Foggy Halloween grave
yard scenes are usually displayed
on.....Halloween night of course! And I have
noticed that Halloween night
usually lands on the last day of
October which is usually pretty COLD.
So it goes
without saying that any fog chiller
that is really going to be useful
for Halloween or for haunted houses
in general will have to work in
the cold weather of autumn. Since
we have long since known that the
Vortex™line
of fog chillers and fog delivery
systems work to reduce the
temperature
of the super hot (189
degrees at the nozzle) fluid fog
colder than any other comparable
product in the world (29 degrees
shown here while actually taken at
the exhaust, a 160 degree
decrease) we wanted to see just
how they would perform in the
extreme and frigid temperatures
that many haunters must deal with
while trying to get fog to lay on
the ground.
So in December of 2004
during an unusual cold snap for us
here
in the usually
sunny and warm Southern California,
we took advantage of sub-freezing
temperatures one very early morning
to evaluate first hand just how
well it would perform. Using a
prototype
Vortex Fusion™,
what we
learned in this multi-hour long
battery of tests was amazing, even
for us!
The
tests were conducted using a super
inexpensive fogger called a Lite
FX, 700 watt unit like the average
home
haunter unaware of the benefits
that the more
commercial units offer, would typically
already have in their arsenal. It is
important to note here that as
mentioned, using a
commercial brand of fog machine
that would cost a little more, such
as our
Martin Magnum 550 (600
watt unit) would not only produce
much more fog, but it will burn
clean and overall produce far more
fog per gallon of fluid. For fluid, we
used the specially formulated
Vortex Pro™ Low Lying Fog
Fluid. There was no
reason to test using the $5 per
quart junk fluid from WalMart and
Target, as to get true low-lying
fog in these temperatures it would
be ridiculous to even waste any
time with such inferior fluid.

As mentioned earlier, the results
of the test
were absolutely
amazing. Even with a slight wind,
the
Vortex Fusion™ proved to effectively
chill fog using
everyday cube ice at ZERO degrees
Celsius (32 degrees). Which is
incredibly significant, since using an infrared laser temperature gauge
with a plus or minus of fractions
of a degree of accuracy, we observe
the melting ice rests at 25 1/2
degrees. Which is a mere 3 1/2
degrees colder than our emitting
fog which started out just one
second before at 160 degrees
higher than that! No other cube ice cooler
has ever been able to duplicate
this effect in freezing
temperatures, which is clearly the most
arduous condition to function in.
There may be other fog chillers on
the market
today,
and you may even find websites that
show you how to make them yourself using
long PVC pipes or rolls of chicken
wire inside a picnic cooler or a
number of other ways, but the
Vortex™remains
unequivocally the single most
effective fog cooling system
utilizing simple ice cubes
available today, standing head and
shoulders above all the rest. For

technology in cold fog distribution systems in the world, purchase your own
