Here is the formal challenge as offered for the various Halloween enthusiast and Haunted Attraction conventions and gatherings event organizers. October 16th, 2007.

    Host a "fog off" like was held some 3 years ago at one of the Halloween convention locations, and we will offer a reward of $1000 to the owner of any system that can perform EQUAL to the Vortex Pro™ Fog Chiller total system. You don't have to beat it, just match it. Here are the details;

  * Bring out your cube (frozen water, not dry ice)-ice smoke machine "fog" chiller and:

  * A written acceptance of this challenge presented to us prior to the competition. Only systems submitted with the persons contact information and agreement to all the requirements of this challenge will be eligible for the $1,000 cash prize, though any system may enter in an exhibition-only fashion

  * No competing system may employ the multi-patent-pending system which VortexChillers.Com solely pioneered and by which it operates, which by design collects the energy from the expanding gas and uses it to force the smoke through the ice and out to the scene. This concept is the unique feature that sets the Vortex alone in the industry 

  * Use the same size smoke machine as recommended with our system. This would be a minimum of 1500 watts, as we would be demonstrating that our system is built to handle the large commercial sized fog demands, whereas the Fog, On The Rocks! chiller from the previous comparison tests was not

  * Use YOUR competing fluid of choice in the competing systems

  * Use only the Vortex Pro Low Lying Fog Fluid in the Vortex Pro fog chiller

  * Use the same amount of frozen water ice cubes as our system uses pound for pound (your system can use less cubes than ours if the ice storage area is not needed to be as large, just not more)

  * If you are using the Vortex Pro Volumizer Crystals in any system, you use the identical amount in the Vortex chiller

  * Use the same length of directional ducting going out to the test scene (we don't care if its one inch or 100 feet, but if used, then the further the better!). The ducting connected to the Vortex Pro fog chiller may not be corrugated if any is used

  * Place the units side by side so the results are controlled to be an accurate representation of both systems in regards to wind and terrain

 * Video tape the inside of each chiller entered, along with the actual ice cubes as they are added by hand, to prove there are no other forms of chilling being used other than cube ice (after all, we only want to compare with other units of like kind here. And while the Vortex system could easily be adapted for DRY ICE cubes instead, the expense and difficulty of handling are what the Vortex set out to avoid from the first concept of the special effect)

 * Video tape clearly and continuously through the entire process of inspection, adding of the ice cubes and then actual performance. Send the results of each comparison, in a format that will represent what is considered by industry professionals as clear, controlled tests
  
  If all of these requirements are met, there will be a reward of $1000 to the owner of any system that can perform EQUAL to the Vortex in temperature and visual volume as determined by both on-site witnesses and our own independent third party judges here at our California location via video. You don't even have to beat it. Just match it and you get one thousand dollars in cash.

  There is NO BET except for this one caveat: if your system loses, you send the fog chiller you entered into the competition, freight pre-paid to our operation in Santa Maria California as ours to keep and observe.

  Upon verification of acceptance of this challenge by at least one other comparable chiller system or more, within two weeks of the event, we will sship out two gallons of Vortex Pro Low Lying Fog Fluid, 4 bags of Vortex Pro Volumizer Crystals, one Vortex Pro Fog Chiller, and one electronic temperature gauge, freight pre-paid to the event. We will also include a return DHL label for the chiller and temperature gauge which must be returned to us at the end of the competition.
